Friends- Family Hope Alliance, Inc. celebrates outstanding community service and activism. What began as the Ms. World Leather Event is now expanding to include the men in our community who are looking to make a difference as well. Thus we present to you the Ms. and Mr. World Leather 2006 Event. The event is just one way of expressing its commitment to charitable projects geared toward making a noticeable difference throughout the world. We celebrate the dedicated leather women and men around the globe who are working hard to make noticeable change in their communities. Our vision is to produce an event that will provide an opportunity for these women and men to continue their work and reach their full potential. This event is built to inform and educate not just the leather community, but also those who stand outside of it. The World Leather Event is where community meets commitment. Why a different kind of contest for a different kind of person? The World Leather Event has proven that it is unlike any contest you have seen. Once again, you will actually see the entire judging process, and our diverse judging panel will undoubtedly put the contestants through their paces. While there will be no fantasy performance, the traditional formal leatherwear and speech competitions will be judged. Each contestant will deliver a 10-minute timed presentation as well as participate in a 10-minute open interviewing process. Contestants will meet the press on stage and participate in “Crossfire,” a live, judged press conference. Crossfire includes a rapid-fire, 5-minute question and answer session. There are also the traditional leather formal wear and 2-minute timed speech categories. Each contestant will also have an opportunity to convince the audience to make a donation to her/his chosen charity or donate funds to enable the contestant to further her/his platform whether she/he wins or not. Additionally, each contestant will be vying for audience members to cast their vote via special chips issued to all attendees, as the Audience Choice for Ms. and Mr. World Leather 2006. Why will the World Leather Contestant be different? The ideal candidate for Ms./Mr. World Leather is someone who is unafraid of a challenge. They do not yield to adversity. They are motivated and confident. They will have already proven their abilities and talents in their own communities. They will not enter this event as a way to learn about this community, but to teach. They will share knowledge and empower others. They will have a mission and we will provide the forum. They are proud of who they are, and are a true role model. They can be lesbian, gay, straight, bisexual, transgendered, pansexual, dominant or submissive. They could be short or tall, slim or not. They will have spent endless personal hours working to benefit not just the Leather/SM/Fetish communities, but also all of humanity. They will have a clear vision of the future and will be able to articulate that vision. Community, Commitment, Compassion Family Hope Alliance, Inc. believes that leather events should provide opportunities for all attendees. Every person who attends will be provided the opportunity to contribute to this event. The strength that this community needs to combat discrimination and hatred is found when we, as leather women and leather men, come together as a united front. We have invited charities, organizations and groups from around the world to participate in this historic weekend. These groups will share their visions, display their achievements and solicit support in future endeavors. We would like to invite you or your group to host a party, as this will enable participants to learn more about your organization and become involved. We would also like to invite you to become an official sponsor of the Ms. and Mr. World Leather 2006 Event Weekend. The greatest contribution you can make is to teach others about yourself. I believe in the power of this community. I believe in change. I believe in growth. I believe that not only will this event be different; it will also make a difference.
