TRADING FOR TACOS 'Trading
for Tacos' Event Raises Awareness For The Homeless There was a packed crowd at the San Francisco Eagle on March 29, 2003 as leather folk brought donations to help homeless people and traded them in for tacos, cooked by hot leather women. The event was in support of Ms. World Leather, Karen McGee's 'A Leather Day of Caring'. Thanks go out to the wonderful leather men and women who attended from all over the Bay Area. Their generous donations totaled up to more than 15 barrels of toiletries, underwear and clothing for the two homeless shelters! "What an amazing day," said Shayne, SF Leather Dyke boy 2003, one of the organizers. "Together we were able to help make the lives of the homeless men and women with HIV/AIDS a little easier." The recipients of the donations are A Woman's Place in San Francisco and Regent Street House in Berkeley. Both shelters offer housing for homeless adults with HIV/AIDS and access to counseling and support systems. Statistics about the homeless were posted around the Eagle. Vibrant emcees, Ms. Billie, SF Leather Dyke Diva 2002 and Kim, SF Leather Dyke Girrl 2002 guided the afternoon gathering. There was cruising and conversation and general good times. The fixings for the tacos were generously donated by The Exiles, San Francisco. Ms. World Leather's 'A Leather Day of Caring' asked leather communities around the country to focus for 'one day or one hour' on the homeless and homeless issues. It was abundantly clear by the turnout and the overwhelming amount of donations that San Francisco and the Bay Area does care! The
