MICHIGAN LEATHER WEEKEND UPDATE

The Mi Leather Weekend is over and the totals are in... and I have to say that the event exceeded our expectations and can be considered a great success!

For item donations, we received for St. Leo's Soup Kitchen:
29 bags of clothing
8 bags/boxes of food
1 bag of new underwear
2 Bags of toys for children
4 boxes of books
4 bags of linens
6 bags/boxes of toiletries and hygiene supplies

52 silent auction items were donated, generating $1,139.00 in cash donations for St. Leo's Soup Kitchen. The highest selling item was the bondage chair that was made by Sir Richard and donated by the MiChatOhs.

$68 was raised at the bootblacking station that Jea and jamie offered.

cash donations, jewelry sales (jewelry donated by sweeet), and chocolate pretzel sales (pretzels donated by cassy) came to $276.00.

In total we're giving St. Leo's Soup Kitchen a whopping $1,483.00 when we make our delivery on April 19th.

All 200 AIDsCARE raffle tickets given to us by Lord Suttle have been sold!! The money and ticket stubs are being sent Fed Ex on Monday in time for the drawing on April 19th.

All of us can be very proud of our Michigan Leather community. Many groups and individuals came together to make this event a success. We asked for volunteers and we had more than we could use (many people volunteered for ALL 3 days!). We asked for silent auction donations and we had our tables filled! cassy from "Let the Cat out of the Bag" even solicited donations from local businesses and brought those with her to the event. We asked for clothing, food and other items to be donated to the event and even people who could not attend made arrangements to either deliver donations or to have them picked up. Items are still coming in after the event in time for the April 19th delivery date, and we already have enough items to fill two vans.

Wicked! provided tons of support by making many auction donations, offering a discount at their store for participants, having their store be an auction item drop-off station, designing and creating the flier for the weekend and a variety of other support functions to make this weekend a success. The MiChatOhs donated web space to promote the event, provided many key volunteers, donated $100 toward the Soup Kitchen, and Master Richard made a bondage chair for the silent auction. And Diamond Jim's offered their space and the assistance of all their staff during the weekend - if we needed it, we had it!

Infact everyone in the community made sure that if we needed it - we had it! Members and representatives from many area groups attended and participated..

And it will all be delivered to St. Leo's Soup Kitchen on Saturday, April 19th at 1:00pm.

Thank you to everyone who participated... whether you made a donation, volunteered, made a purchase at the silent auction, got your boots blacked, donated items or money, or just offered great advice and enthusiasm. It was an honor to work beside you and I am greatly humbled by your charity and dedication. Because of all the volunteers, I barely had to anything to do and know that many people worked just as much, if not more, than I did.

That's real community spirit and I'm am very proud to be among you all in the Michigan & Detroit Leather community.
